Great Brak River is a gated community with effective security and the convenience of on-site community facilities. The Village takes pride in an on-site Care Unit, offering round-the-clock care services. The village comprises a range of residential options including Own title houses ranging from one to three-bedroom houses, Assisted Living Apartments, a Sub-acute unit, and a Care Unit.
Great Brak River residents, 50 years and older, live self-sufficiently in their homes. Although they are independent, they have immediate access to either short-, transitional-, or long-term care options when needed. In addition, they enjoy health services such as an emergency stabilisation service, a panic button for 24-hour medical emergencies, weekday clinic services, advance care planning, and, preferential admission to the Care Unit.
To promote the optimal well-being of our residents, Great Brak River implements a compulsory meal package that includes 10 balanced and nutritious meals per resident, per month. By offering this compulsory meal package, we aim to provide our residents with the convenience and assurance of wholesome lunch options that promote overall well-being.
Great Brak River residents belong to a Homeowners’ Association which looks after the shared interests of the residents and owns and manages communal infrastructure and facilities and ensures the financial stability of the Village.

Our village offers a total of forty-nine bachelor apartments, primarily designed to accommodate residents who require some assistance with their daily living. These apartments are available exclusively on life right basis. It is important to note that Southern Healthcare, the healthcare provider of the village, directly oversees and manages these apartments, ensuring the highest level of supervision.
While our mission is to promote residents’ independence for as long as possible, we understand the importance of providing certain services to ensure our residents’ well-being and comfort. The following services are available in the Assisted Living Apartments:
The Home Owners Association is very active and inspirational. Social events are held from time to time and entertainers are invited to perform at the village. On Sundays the local church's sermons are broadcasted on the big screen in the community centre, and several prayer meetings are organized during the week. There is on-going collaboration with clubs in the area i.e. the bowling club.
Groenkloof boasts a friendly, bustling restaurant where residents and non-residents can enjoy delicious lunches. It also has a lounge library, braai area, and hairdresser facilities. These facilities are available to residents for functions and meetings.
