Groenkloof Glen provides a thriving community for residents aged 50 years or older who lead independent lives in their own houses, capable of carrying out daily activities self-sufficiently. However, as the need arises, residents have immediate access to a range of short-term, transitional, or long-term care options. Essential services, including an emergency stabilisation service, a 24-hour panic button for medical emergencies, clinic services, advance care planning, and admission to the Care Unit, are readily available to residents.
Promoting healthy living, balanced meals are an integral part of life in Groenkloof. Glen residents have the convenience of ordering meals directly from the kitchen. However, they are exempt from the compulsory policy of 10 meals per person per month that applies to residents in the Village and Woods. This provides Glen residents with the flexibility and autonomy in managing their dining preferences and meal arrangements.
Housing in Groenkloof is available on either Life right or Full title basis. Life Right Holders enter into an agreement that grants them the right to occupy their house for as long as they live or until the life right is cancelled. On the other hand, residents who purchase houses on a full title basis enter into a Deed of Sale.
All homeowners, regardless of the type of ownership, become members of the Homeowners’ Association. This Association takes care of the shared interest of residents and owns and manages communal infrastructure and facilities, and ensures the financial stability of the village, fostering a sense of unity and cohesion among residents.
The Glen residents have the privilege of sharing various communal facilities with their counterparts in the Rif, and Village. These shared amenities encompass offices, a boardroom, a dining room, a braai lapa, a hair salon and a library. This inclusive arrangement fosters a strong sense of community and enables interaction with its neighbours.
Furthermore, all Groenkloof residents have access to the Groenkloof Hub, which serves as a central gathering place. The Hub’s various facilities include:
All Groenkloof residents have preferential access to the Groenkloof Care Units in George or Great Brak River where long-term- and palliative care is offered.
