The Property

The Groenkloof Woods consists of own title, life right houses and a Lifestyle Center. The Woods is a gated community, consisting of 349 own-title or life right houses. The village is enclosed with electrified perimeter fencing and access to the village is controlled. The Jan Pienaar lifestyle centre offers a selection of modern facilities including an inviting dining hall, a stoep with braai facilities, a well-stocked library, and versatile meeting rooms. Extra garage storage facilities and Caravan garages are available to rent.

Independent Living

Groenkloof Woods provides a thriving community for residents aged 50 years or older who lead independent lives in their own houses, capable of carrying out daily activities self-sufficiently. However, as the need arises, residents have immediate access to a range of short-term, transitional, or long-term care options. Essential services, including an emergency stabilisation service, a 24-hour panic button for medical emergencies, clinic services, advance care planning, and admission to the Care Unit, are readily available to residents.

Promoting healthy living, balanced meals are an integral part of life in Groenkloof. All Woods residents partake in the compulsory meal policy of 10 meals per month per person. Woods residents have the convenience of ordering meals directly from the kitchen and have it delivered to their homes or enjoy lunch with friends at the restaurant. Groenkloof Woods residents have the convenience of ordering meals directly from the kitchen.

Housing in Groenkloof is available on either Life right or Full title basis. Life Right Holders enter into an agreement that grants them the right to occupy their house for as long as they live or until the life right is cancelled. On the other hand, residents who purchase houses on a full title basis enter into a Deed of Sale.

All homeowners, regardless of the type of ownership, become members of the Homeowners' Association. This Association takes care of the shared interest of residents and owns and manages communal infrastructure and facilities, and ensures the financial stability of the village, fostering a sense of unity and cohesion among residents.

At the heart of our community lies the central communal facility, the thriving Groenkloof Hub. Spaces, events and activities encourage interaction and opportunities for engagement and leisure activities for all Groenkloof residents.

Overall our communal facilities aim to facilitate interaction, encourage residents to pursue their interests and provide a sense of belonging within the Groenkloof family. By offering a variety of spaces and activities, we aim to promote socialising, foster friendships and enhance the overall well-being of our residents.

  • Our welcoming restaurant serves as a gathering place for socialising, sharing stories, and building relationships over a delicious meal or cup of coffee;
  • A nearby hall serves as a multipurpose space for hosting events, meetings, educational seminars, hobby clubs, movie nights, concerts, church meetings, and other social gatherings;
  • Dedicated space provides residents with the opportunity to explore their creative side and participate in painting, pottery, and other artistic endeavours in the Art and Pottery studios.
  • The Metal and Woodwork Workshops are equipped with tools and equipment for woodworking, carpentry and metalworking projects. Residents can join the woodwork club and engage in hands-on activities, learn new skills or collaborate on projects together, fostering a sense of camaraderie and accomplishment;

Groenkloof Woods forms part of the greater Groenkloof George retirement village which is located to the East of George next to the Kraaibosch and Glenwood residential areas.

Entry to the village is through the main entrance gate in Hardepeer Avenue.
